I wonder because whenever I need to contact someone for a product or service it seems that they must be in India! I get some language barriers and it drives me crazy and I have trouble understanding some of the people who are taking my calls! (No offense to people in India, it's an outsourcing problem our nation has developed...)

By Indian standards, they make a great living, they are actually the graduates of top universities in India. Of course that is much less than what one would make doing the same work in the US. But like you said, our frustrations should be with the compainies that are trying to save money by outsourcing.

I think it does. It goes the same here in the Philippines as well. I personally worked in a call center. Our account deals with credit cards and boy it eventually burned me out. The salary is substantial for our standards as well as for our Indian neighbors. If I am to compare the salary that you would normally get from doing menial chores or say being a crew in a fast food chain, its three to four fold if you will be taking calls.

People working in call centers only receive almost the minimum pay but they receive perks for good performance. As expected, they are not good in language because of diction influenced by the local language.

Probably. I do know this though....A company I used to work for called AT&T outsourced to them and layed us off back in 2004. An approximate 500 of us got layed off and the office building we were in shut down. So you can blame our companies for that one.
