I want to print to my elderly Canon laser printer using my new laptop (Toshiba running XP). But the laptop doesn't have a parallel port (I didn't even think to look when I bought it). I bought a USB to parallel adaptor (no name, no support) hoping that would resolve the issue. But the Canon driver in XP doesn't seem to want to talk to the USB ports.
At the moment, I put my documents for printing onto a USB key and print using my wife's computer. But it would be nice to print from my own machine.

Your Canon should emulate a laserjet... No? Can you set your laserjet driver to point to the USB port, which should create a new port called USBLPT1 or something like that?
