Can i run a 400 MHz,DDR RAM with 333 MHz,DDR RAM?
i have a pc with pentium 4,1.8 GHz,256 MB 333 MHz DDR RAM,VIA Motherboard. I want Upgrade MY RAM. Can i run 400 MHz 512 MB DDR RAM on This PC with 256 MB RAM. my system model is P4M266A-8235

When you install RAM chips all of them should be identical in everything... size and speed and type.

Go ahead. BIOS is so forgiving, it will just read the SPD of each module then synchronize the speed to that of the slowest module. Latency/timings will also be set to that of the slowest module.

Identical modules are only necessary when you want to run dual channel memory mode in a motherboard that is capable of such.

Clean the previously vacant slot w/ a small paint brush. Reseat the additional module twice before locking it in place.

I just asked this question yesterday to a shop, and they said no. They even said that the two memory modules that you will both use should be of the same value, say 1GB. Both modules should be 1GB or else it will crash.
