Love is when you put another person's needs and wellbeing before your own. Love is not being selfish. Love is consistent and steadfast. Being in love means there is a chemistry between two people that cannot be explained but you just feel it and know that you don't want to live your life without that person.

Many people believe love is a sensation that magically generates when Mr. or Ms. Right appears. No wonder so many people are single.
So you ask what is love......... real, lasting love?
"Love is the attachment that results from deeply appreciating another's goodness" The word "goodness" may surprise you. What we value most in ourselves, we value most in others. God created us to see ourselves as good. So, too, we seek goodness in others. Nice looks, an engaging personality, intelligence, and talent (all of which count for something) may attract you, but goodness is what moves you to love.
If love comes from appreciating goodness, it needn't just happen -- you can make it happen. Love is active. You can create it. Just focus on the good in another person (and everyone has some). If you can do this easily, you'll love easily. By focusing on the good, you can love almost anyone. LOVE IS A CHOICE!
The best way to feel loving is to be loving -- and that means giving. While most people believe love leads to giving, the truth is that giving leads to love.
What is giving then?
True giving, as Erich Fromm points out, is other-oriented, and requires four elements. The first is care, demonstrating active concern for the recipient's life and growth. The second is responsibility, responding to his or her expressed and unexpressed needs (particularly, in an adult relationship, emotional needs). The third is respect, "the ability to see a person as he [or she] is, to be aware of his [or her] unique individuality," and, consequently, wanting that person to "grow and unfold as he [or she] is." These three components all depend upon the fourth, knowledge. You can care for, respond to, and respect another only as deeply as you know him or her.
The more you give, the more you love.
All the best!

What is Love? What is Marriage?
A student ask a teacher, "What is love?"
The teacher said, "In order to answer your question, go to the paddy field and choose the biggest paddy and come back. But the rule is: you can go through them only once and cannot turn back to pick."
The student went to the field, go thru first row, he saw one big paddy,but he wonders.... maybe there is a bigger one later. Then he saw another bigger one... but maybe there is an even bigger one waiting for him.
Later, when he finished more than half of the paddy field, he started to realise that the paddy is not as big as the previous one he saw, he know he has missed the biggest one, and he regretted!!! So, he ended up went back to the teacher with empty hand.
The teacher told him, "This is love... you keep looking for a better one, but when later you realise, you have already missed the person..."
"What is marriage then?" the student asked.
The teacher said, "In order to answer your question, go to the corn field and choose the biggest corn and come back. But the rule is: you can go through them only once and cannot turn back to pick."
The student went to the corn field, this time he is careful not to repeat the previous mistake, when he reach the middle of the field, he has picked one medium corn that he feel satisfy, and come back to the teacher.
The teacher told him, "This time you bring back a corn... you look for one that is just nice, and you have faith and believe this is the best one you get. This is marriage."

The best answer to this question is found in Greek Mythology. In fact, the answers to most things are found there.
Ensure you study it from a learn ed person, as Greek Mythology is the true psychology, so I'm told. Remember Eros ? or Cupid for that matter.
By the way, you will know when it hits you.

New King James Version
1 Corinthians 13
By Paragraph Listen to MP3
1Cr 13:1
THOUGH I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.
1Cr 13:2
And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.
1Cr 13:3
And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned,[fn1] but have not love, it profits me nothing.
1Cr 13:4
Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up;
1Cr 13:5
does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil;
1Cr 13:6
does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;
1Cr 13:7
bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
1Cr 13:8
Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.
1Cr 13:9
For we know in part and we prophesy in part.
1Cr 13:10
But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.
1Cr 13:11
When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
1Cr 13:12
For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.
1Cr 13:13
And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Love is a word with many meanings.
I love my dog, I love my parents....I love chocolate....
It's just a word that should represent a feeling, but what the feeling is, some of us still try to figure it out...
