They charge £125 for a phone line to be installed. So obviously I'm not with BT.

I'm going to try invoicing them for my time to write out the cheque (£4.50 of course) and go to the small claims court if they fail to pay. I'm totally against Direct Debit Piracy.

Virgin/NTL charge me £5 per month because I refuse to go the "Direct Debit" route - once bitten, twice shy and all that... I pay them via card on the day I get my bill each month.

Sadly, I don't think I could legally challenge it because it's in their Terms of Service that I signed up to.

It still pisses me off. £60 per year for nothing. And I'm not alone it seems:

I know. By penalising those customers who can't pay by direct debit - often those who are the worst off, they are actually making the least well off people pay more.

I think it's disgusting.

Write to them demanding an explanation, and let us know how you get on.
