Never follow a formula!! That gets you in the most trouble as you can see in the live drafts everyone is going by some formula so when the first player of a certain position gets taken everyone else in that position gets taken no matter the value. The best thing to do is take the best fantasy player available, yes you do have to pay attention to depth, but if 4 number one rbs fall to me in the first 4 rounds im going jump all over them. At the same time if a bad rb is available but I need a rb im sitll going with that established number one wr. If you get the best player available you will be able to trade your depth for your positions of need and you will be stacked.

This was my Live Draft results:
1. (1) LaDainian Tomlinson RB
2. (16) Brian Westbrook RB
3. (17) Ronnie Brown RB
4. (32) Marshawn Lynch RB
5. (33) Marques Colston WR
6. (48) Vince Young QB
7. (49) Thomas Jones RB
8. (64) Jay Cutler QB
9. (65) Calvin Johnson WR
10. (80) Donte' Stallworth WR
11. (81) Vernon Davis TE
12. (96) Dallas DEF
13. (97) Shayne Graham K
14. (112) John Kasay K
15. (113) Mark Clayton WR (dropped then added Jerry Porter from FA)
You can clearly see the dominance of the running back position in touching the ball. Even the second-tier running backs touch the ball more than the top-tier wideouts. My point is simple. Many people come up with silly off-the-wall strategies, formulas or whatnot when drafting. A little common sense will go a long way here. You have at least two starting wide receivers in the NFL - some teams three. That means there are anywhere from 64 to 96 starting receivers to choose from but running backs are different! You only have 32 starting running backs and about 12-15 of the teams will have some form of running back by committee. As you can see, the lack of depth at the running back position is extremely key and should factor into how you draft.

I usually look for a RB in the first two rounds. Then rounds 3-5 will have 2 WRs and another RB (no order ... whatever is best available). If no RB looks good in 3-5, then I'd go with a QB. But I keep a high value on RBs because they get lots of touches on a week to week basis.
Of course, watch how your league is scored. Draft the players who take advantage of your leagues scoring set up. Example - If you get points per reception, get RBs that catch too and watch WRs a little closer.

What I look at is what player regardless of position will give me the most points, first two rounds are usually RB but sometimes a Peyton Manning is in there as well. Not many receivers are ever in my top ten, they just do not give you the scoring potential. If you see a TE in round three that will outscore the other receivers left then you have to take him. If a defense will give you 20 points a week (IE Baltimore the past few years) then why not take them before them before the backup RB for the pass happy Lions? Look for the top point player available at that slot...ALSO never draft Vick or McNair because while they tease you two weeks a year they are always a disappointment in Fantasy!

I normally draft like this
1. RB
2. RB or WR
3. RB or WR (whichever I didn't get before)
4. WR
5. QB
I think the trend is gonna change with RBs simply because almost every team has a good one these days, where as 5 years ago, there were a limited amount of decent RBs. I still think its the most important position, so you have to pick one first, but dont be afraid to pick 2 WRs and a QB before you pick your 2nd back.

well it depends on what your league consists of....open slots, number of starters, stats, etc...
I normally go with the
1. RB
2. RB.
3. WR
4. WR
5. QB or NASTY TE
RB's get the most touches and the most points of all NFL players. Only Peyton Manning is a 1st or 2nd round QB. Defenses and kickers should always wait til the latter half of the draft because they all get close to the points.

we are presently experiencing an identical concern. If this could be a remember of overcommital of Y! servers or another hardware inadequacy, Y! might think of roughly proscribing # of drafts. I comprehend those issues take place, yet we've been looking forward to this draft for 2 months.

Just wondering when you say fellow "experts" only .I'm assuming you are the "expert" also. If so then why would you need someone else tell you how to draft. Please I only want the fellow "expert" to answer me. I would also like to know what qualifies people to be a "EXPERT" O yea and for Jai his formula is way off never draft defense 4th.

I have tried all the formulas. The one I have found best is take the best player available at any position.
Last year I ran one live draft and one auto draft. The auto draft chose the best player. The live draft I chose on too much emotion of the moment.
The live draft I was smoked and never got above ninth place.
The auto draft I won my championship. I had LT as my first pick, #3 overall.
