It will be cheaper if you just sold your car and bought another Pontiac with auto. And in the end you will have less mechanical problems.

Sure you can. All you need is the automatic and all of the controls for shifting it changed. You might need a new driveshaft as one or the other is probably longer. It might need to be reconfigured as far as the PCM goes if equipped. It also might need a vacuum supply and detent cable as some of these had shift control here as well. Good luck.

Do you have a couple grand hanging around? If you have the transmission out you might as well rebuild the engine or, no, just go ahead and buy a brand new Crate engine as long as you're going to do completely unnecessary things to your car. Dude, if you're even thinking about it, just sell it.

i found a web site that will answer all kinds of questions on pontiacs. it is edmunds.com go there and sign up (it is free) but you can scan the questions and answers without joining. click on forums, select the make of car, and then the selection regarding your question. it helped me immensely
