This has never happened to me before.
I always have very regular periods (exact to the day).
I'm next due on my period in 4 days time, but for the past 2 weeks i have had a very small amount of bleeding (it varies from brown to pale pink and a couple of times has been bright red)!

What is the cause of this?

I am on the birth control pill - but i have been on it for almost 7 months and never had any side effects at all before.

So why am i bleeding between my periods?

I have had a problem with breakthrough bleeding (any vaginal bleeding that occurs at other times during the month) because of the birth control pills after so many months because of the way that I take them. It is possible that the pill could have something to do with this. Another possibility is that of infection.

The only way to know for sure what could be causing this is to have your dr evaluate this situation further to see what they think could be causing this.

This is more likely due to missing a pill during its course or taking the pill at different times of the day. My recommendation is stick to a particular time of day and put a reminder in your diary if you forget. (I am studying a nursing degree).
