Great question... STAR!!
Majority is RIGHT but not always right.... meaning it gives a right even though it can many a times be erroneous or wrong.
Minority as such can not rise up to overrule majority... however, in extreme cases, minority protests and disagreements can be convincing and thus cause a shift of fence sitting population from the majority chunk.... if this process is strong enough and there is a requisite shift, then of course the minority wins because it turns into majority through the shift. However, such substantive shift is rare and often too late as well..... as a result democracy does not manage to deliver the desired results all the time. Even though we know the strength of numbers does not prove quality, we have no better alternative than to go by the fact that quality must reflect in numbers sooner or later.

So long as thewre is such a minority, or people believe they are part of such minority, they will cause hate crimes, and protests, but won't get anywhere because they are aminority. If they are ever to do anything they need money, and lots of it, and power, in the form of politicians or nuclear bombs as a few examples. Good luck with that plan, terrorists are the best example of what would be needed for a semi-success. A true success would be to morph the majorities opinion, as was almost done with legalized gay marriage. Minorities are getting better regular treatment in America now anyhow, so I don't see the need to uprise ifyou ask me.
