Are you talking the Windsor-Detroit International Freedom Festival? According to the site below, it's a two week long event celebrating Canada Day (July 1st) and Independence Day (July 4th) with a big fireworks display held on the last Wednesday in June.

Dont know anything about what Yankees & Canadians may do, but the 4th of July is NOT "fireworks day" !!!!!! It is our (America's) Independence Day & it is JULY 4th every year!!! It is for true Americans ONLY ! It is to celebrate our FREEDOM from ENGLISH TERRONY and is a day in which for those of us who had relatives who fought, died and suffered for us their heirs to celebrate their gift of FREEDOM to us their desendants !!!!!!!!!!!!!! And it is for those who are born American to honor those ancestors as well and to appreciate all the wonderful things we enjoy as AMERICANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And for those who love America & have worked hard to become good and loyal citizens to give THANKS for the GREAT GIFT of FREEDOM & OPPORTUNITY they now enjoy as AMERICANS !!!
It IS NOT "fireworks" day !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
