Early in the evening, Venus and Saturn are visible low in the Western Sky. As the night progresses, Jupiter, Neptune, Uranus and Mars become visible low in the eastern Sky. By the time Mars is high enough to be seen, the first light of Dawn will start to wash out the sky.
If you are really interested in night sky events, why not download one of the free Planetarium programs?
After you enter your location, date and time, they will show you exactly what the sky will look like from your house. You can zoom in, pan around, get info on all the visible objects and lots more.....
One of the most popular ones is "Hello Northern Sky". A google search will find it in no time.
And Oh Yes, tonight the space shuttle and the International Space station will also be visible, starting in the NW sky a little after 9PM

Basically the first 6 planets can be seen with a telescope. However, I don't recommend that you look at mecury, as it is usually infront of the sun, and you'll damage your eyes.

Just punch in our location and select whole skychart. Jupiter and Mars are also visible besides Venus and Saturn.

Enter zip code; choose the view you like; click on a planet or star to get data.

Search Wikipedia for a constellation name, to get a star chart for that little piece of sky.
