My doctor told me i could go back to work within a week. Im not so sure about this. My job requires me to do a lot of lifting which uses the pectoral mucsles. Has anyone else had this surgery or know of someone who has and how was their recovery?

Drainage tubes are used in the outdated forms of breast reduction surgery, so you should be fine in that area. I went back to university after 1.5 weeks and back to one job after 3 and the other after 3.5 weeks. Everyones recovery will vary depending on the level of skill that your surgeon has to your own personal healing time. I was still in pain when I started back at work.

You will need to pace yourself and take it easy. I thought I was all healed until I performed 2 full body massages at my work last weekend( I am a Beauty Therapist). I started to feel pain in my breasts and have since been in pain for the last week.

I would look at getting a doctors certificate to cover you for at least 2 weeks after your surgery.
My surgeon told me that the average recovery time is 3 weeks for reductions

With a lot of lifting you should be off for a month, because if you do that work without your incisions healed you could reopen them and cause a lot of problems.

I had it done in Feb 2006. I was out of work for two weeks, but that wasn't a very physically active job.

Let your doctor know you need an excuse for at least 2-4 weeks, since you have a very physical job. OR make sure to get a light duty paper from him so you can go back on a limited basis.

Some doctors leave drainage tubes in after you are released. I did not have any drainage tubes to worry about though.

i have not had breast reduction surgery. reading up on it, it says that you will need to have a drainage tube under each arm to collect the blood and pus from your incisions anywhere from one day to several weeks, as every woman's healing time will vary. according to some info i found on the mayo clinic web page, it says that some woman MAY be able to return to work in 2-3 weeks as long as their job does not require strenuous activity. as your job requires lifting, it sound like you shouldnt be going to work in a week. as the site says, it may take up to a month for women to heal fully. i am not a doctor, but my advice would be to give yourself longer then a week to get back to work. get some rest and go back when you are sure youre able to. good luck!

Breast reduction surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her breast reduction, tummy tuck and facelift surgery in India by the company called Forerunners Healthcare .The Price for the surgery she paid in India was very less. She paid 30% of the cost she was quoted in America.

Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. They arrange cosmetic and plastic surgery for foreigners in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low price, as the breast reduction, tummy tuck, facelift and other cosmetic surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Hope this helps.
