you know your boss has open your letter (which is clearly address to you). including your personal letter (because no company name mention in the envelope.

When you asked your boss, she said that i was not around and she afraid that the letter needs immediate action (actually i was all day in my office!!)

The immediate response is always a negative reaction but the important thing is to know that she/he is your boss.I 'd ask politely why she thought of opening it and listen to the response given. It is always possible to know if the response is a lie or not.Out of the response given, determine if your Boss is snooping on you or trying to find ways of firing you and then take a pre-emptive action.e.i ask your Boss if she is satisfied with your output and if no, then suggest on how you can improve.
My take is ,when the boss decides to open a personally addressed letter and lies about one's presence in the office while yet you were actually there then you should be on your guard. Because it seems that grounds for being fired are being layed .
Take courage ,be polite and ask your Boss to kindly respect any material addressed to you and not to open it again.

Oh man... I always crack a whip... seriously because bosses get power trips so I put em back in place. I would seriously sit down in a calm manner so him/her wouldn't think I was a bit*# and say, I noticed the letter you gave me was opened and the law states that is a federal offence. I consider my material to be very personal and if that happens again I will report it to whoever i have to. YOU are in the right, him/her is NOT! They can not say nothing about it no matter what. All they are gonna do is apologize. Just reiderate what you said, if it happens again, it is against the law and I will report it.

Trust me, they won't do it again.

why are you having personal mail delivered to work?
I think she's entitled to open any mail to the company - don't know the legalities though, just an opinion
