Absolutely. The home run record is the most valued record in the history of sports. This is baseball history happening, and as the commissioner, Selig needs to be there. Selig doesn't accomplish anything by not attending, regardless of how clouded the record is.

No, that's not effortless. Selig is meant to be an independent discern. If there is hardline info of steroid use, different than human beings's thoughts approximately Bonds, that's going to be further out. the completed subject is a large number, and the commissioner taking facets isn't helping concerns any. Ford Frick did an identical element while Roger Maris broke the unmarried season checklist. Bowie Kuhn, nevertheless he had his variations with Aaron, respected him sufficient as a ballplayer and a guy to be there for 715. Baseball has necessary a clean commissioner considering 1992, so as that's not possibly the situation here. If Selig replaced into there for McGwire's 62nd, even after the "andro" controversy, why won't be able to he be there now to make sure historic past being made lower back?

If Bonds had ever been suspended for Steroids, I think Selig would have firmer ground to stand on, in that he'd have a reason not to be there. However, he hasn't ever been reprimanded for performance enhancers, and this is the biggest record in baseball. He needs to be there, like it or not. It's different for Hank Aaron to speak out against this, because he's not the governing head of the league, but for the commissioner of baseball not to be there, that would just be a travesty.

He should, but he won't, because Bud Selig is an a$$hole.
The people out there who are still saying that Bonds is using, prove it, or stop it. He never failed a drug test. All you have are accusations backed by more accusations, and two reporters who wrote some stories, then a book to confirm their own stories. (for those of you who don't know this, a conformation needs to be from a secondary source.) All this is based on the fact that Bonds has a rotten personalty, and people want to see him burned at the stake. Shame on all of you. This is America, if you want guilty until proven innocent, move to France, and hope you are never accused of anything.

If I were Bud Selig, Bonds would have been banned from Major League Baseball a couple years ago.

Seligula is the commissioner, and the commissioner has responsibilities to the entire sport that necessarily transcend any personal disinterest.
He should be there (at least for a few games... if Bonds starts dragging it out, well, there are limits).

This assumes that he would know definitively which game that would be.
If I were in his position, I would attend at least one game of each series from one HR shy of the record until it is his alone.
On another note, after the season I would return the season to 154 games and let the inflated records be noted that they came from an "expanded season" era.

If he wants to show respect to the game...yes. People have cheated in baseball forever. I'm not a Bonds fan...but hey...has he been caught when it counts? Bud, has to swallow his pride and attend.
