Louis Vuitton?

How can i tell if a Louis Vuitton purse is fake or not? i dont know the price because my dad gave it to me to give to my girlfriend and i dont know if its real or fake, is there anyway i can tell? if, so how?

you can look inside the purse...and it will have a tag kinda thing sewed on the bag saying louis vuitton...if it doesnt...its fake.

There are several ways:

If it's a multi-color monogram: Multicolor monograms have 32 colors on them. If they only have around 10, then it's fake. The color of the leather is also a big indication. If the color of the leather is a brownish-orangish color, it's fake. New Louis Vuitton bags start off with their leather being EXTREMELY light, they start off with the leather being the color of butter. I'm serious, they're actually the color of butter. You can also tell by touching the leather parts. If they feel like vinyl, then it's fake. Louis Vuitton are quality purses (as you know) so they don't cheap out and use vinyl. There will be LV all over. There should be two LVs that are centered, not one smack dab in the middle. It should look like this:

Traditional Monogram: The leather should start out being a butter color, should feel like leather. Two Lv's centered. SHould look similar to this:

The stictching on the bags should not be big and bulky. Take a look at some of the Louis Vuitton bags off of eluxury.com or vuitton.com to get an idea.

If your wallet is a LV Damier (The one that's checkered) then there should be 9 empty box in between every cube with the Louis Vuitton inside and not 7 boxes(the fakes ones is usually with 7 boxes)... upwards, downward and diagonally... and check if the boxes are balance,for eg. if there is a LV cube in the center of the purse and there is 3 and a half cube on the top then there should also be 3 and a half cubes at the bottom..
and if it's monograms, then when you close the purse, the pattern should match, for eg. if half is the 4 petal flower is cut off at one end, then it should match the flower on the other end... everything should match nicely... and it should be balance too...!

I'm not sure if you understands me, but worst come to worst, bring it to the LV boutique and ask them, cause those LV imitations from Korea and Japan is very real... and it is very hard to differentiate them..

you would have had to have seen a real one in order to tell a fake. I can tell a fake from 5 miles away!

the fakes are getting pretty good, but people that actually buy real, know the difference.

i recommend only buying Vuitton from Vuitton shops, if you buy anything over the net, especially that rip off site, eBay, you can rest assured, you've been scammed. There is even a network of scammers on eBay "Poupette" who claims to be a Vuitton expert and a top seller; she and her network are SCAM artists! They have high quality fakes and they are making a mint on eBay from the uneducated.

-look at the stitching on the handles if the stitching is the same color are the handles its real if not its fake.
-look on the inside of the purse and see if there is a tag sew on the inside it should say louis vuitton made in blah blah blah and all this information, i think there should be two tags but im not sure.

well it could be really obvious like it doesnt have the LV symbol on it and instead has some wierd shape to replace it....u can also tell by the texture and how it feels it should feel like leather and not cheap material...u can also tell by looking for the model online to see if it looks the same or it even exists as a real bag...good luck! if its real...that girl is LUCKY!

Take it to a place that sells purses and have it inspected. A little dose of trust in your dad would be nice too.

on other real purses like coach and brighton you can tell if it is real by looking for a serial number..if it has one it is real.
