i strongly suggest valerian root. it's great at relieving stress and tension! you can get it over the counter and it's a great sleep aid! if you have one of those "racing minds" or "i can't turn my head off no matter how tired i am" then this will definitely help. you can find at your local grocery store in the pharmacy or herbal remedy section. start off taking 500-1000mgs, 30-45 minutes before you go to bed. now you can get this stuff in capsule form and it's 100% safe (my whole family has been taking it for years and our family doctor actually recommended it) however the only downside is that the more potent the brand your taking the stronger the smell. and this stuff smells AWFUL! but it's worth it. within 5-7 days you should notice a definite change in your sleep.
WARNING! i strongly do not suggest that you take Tylenol PM and booze, in any form or combination. the main ingredient in Tylenol PM and Advil pm, or benadryl for that matter is diphenhydramine. here's what happens when you take it:
You can walk into a drugstore and choose from an array of sleep aids, offered without prescription. The main ingredient of over-the-counter sleeping pills is an antihistamine. Antihistamines are generally taken for allergies, but also make you feel very sleepy. Common over-the-counter sleep medications are Sleep-Eze, Sominex, Nytol, and Unison; they contain antihistamines such as:
diphenhydramine hydrochloride,
diphenhydramine citrate, or
doxylamine succinate.
In general, over-the-counter sleep medications are not a good choice because they:
Are not intended for long-term use.
Interfere with mental alertness during the day, so you should avoid driving and other similar tasks. You may also be at risk for falling asleep
Reduce the quality of your sleep by reducing time you spend in deep sleep.
Use over-the-counter sleep medications only for transient or short-term insomnia and in conjunction with changes to your sleeping habits. Be sure to pay attention to your body’s physical response to these sleep medications.
i hope this helps you out!

Don't ever take the sleeping pills route!!
1. They will damage your liver big time and you can get into serious health problems.
2. You will get hooked up on them and you won't be able to have a normal life any more if you don't take your pills everyday.
The sleeping pills industry is damaging our health by capitalizing on our ignorance, and by distracting people from effective and natural ways to deal with this problem. I had been taking prescription sleep medications [Ambien] for over 5 years. It stopped working and I simply took more. Still did not work. Nights were very difficult - medication put me to sleep but I would wake up after 2–3 hours with a strong sympathetic response (fast pulse, pounding heartbeat, wide awake alert). It was a very difficult cycle to break. I was really in bad shape due to lack of sleep.
After years of struggling I was able to cure my insomnia naturally and pretty fast. I followed the Sleep Tracks sleep optimization program, here is their official web -site if you want to take a look: http://www.insomniacure.net
Ohhh..and Good Luck!

Sit in the tub, read a book then get in bed at 2 a.m. Do the same thing each night but 5 minutes earlier. It really screws you up to stay up late then sleep late. You need to set an alarm clock and get up earlier even if you are tired. Set the clock 5 minutes earlier every day, too until you are back to a normal schedule. You can't sleep early if you get up so late.

Get up an hour earlier every day until you re-acclimate to a normal sleep cycle.
Do you eat or drink chocolate? That has caffiene too.
Drink about 1/2 gallon of water a day, to flush out anything affecting you.
Avoid fried, fast, and junk foods - even diet junk foods.
Take a quality vitamin with minerals every day.
Develop a bedtime routine - hot bath, a book, prayers [ worked when you were little! ] and good night.
Ask your mom if you can take 1 or 2 Benadryl an hour befre you want to go to sleep.

I had the same exact problem when I was your age. You get used to going to bed late, and it gets later and later and later. The only thing thing that really worked for me was trying to skip sleeping one night altogether. You are a zombie that day, but by the time 9pm comes around, you will go to sleep. Most importantly, dont go to bed unless youre tired. The frustration of not being able to go to sleep just makes it worse. Another thing that helped a lot was http://www.sleepsolutionstrips.com ... Good Luck!

Just lie down straight facing the roof of the wall. Relax. Meditate closing your eyes without thinking of anything that has happened or going to happen. Before that try to read some books till your eyes forces you to close. Try doing this!!!! This gives you a sound sleep. After a few days your metabolism gets tuned to this routine of sleeping and that continues.

Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress,
dietary and medical problems. By making
small lifestyle changes like having a fixed
daily routine, relaxing and eating properly,
insomnia can be cured. I found the information

Beileve it or not your sleeping patterns are characteristic at your age. It can be frustrating. I would suggest trying to meditate. Also did you know that your feet usually have to be warm before you fall asleep, put some warm socks on.

I'm 14, and have the same problem, though not as severe. For most people taking benadryl works, though when I tried it I got jittery.
