Every morning I drive to work, and most of the time I have to avoid one or more African-Americans walking across the middle of the highway. I have talked to my friends and they say they have seen the same thing, and 90% of the time it is an African American. I am trying to understand why this keeps happening. I hope nobody is offended.

It's funny when people try making excuses.
I live in a basically ALL WHITE community, and the only people I ever see jay walking are african american, EVEN when there is a crosswalk 25 feet away.

It's all about practicality and location. The people you see probably live on one side of the highway and whatever is on the other side is something that they need. As it turns out, the shortest vector is across that highway, so they use it. Everyone figures that the drivers will slow down, and the benefits probably seem to outweigh the risks. As soon as the neighborhood gets gentrified, you'll see white kids who are too young to drive crossing that highway.

no it's not racist or anything. I am black. maybe it's just the area you are in(mostly black). dude i could not tell you why they are walking across a busy highway. like a previous poster stated,notify the police.You do not have to feel like you offended anyone,you did not. You just made an honest observation. You can't be blamed for that......peace my white brotha. Best regards

Is just because no one stop then from crossing the road!
When there's a lot of people do the same thing others follow.
Maybe you should write to the government about this and ask them to build a overhead bridge.

There are always people, regardless of race, who think rules are only made for others, not for themselves. And, most people would rather take a shortcut than the long way around, even if it is dangerous.

maybe they do not know its not allowed to walk through a busy and dangerous hiways
report it to the police or authorities to catch them

To get to the other side - especially when it is a long distance to the nearest crossing with lights or underpass/overpass. You need to visit places with more poor white people if you want to see whites doing it.
