There was recently a PBS special on the Tiannamen Massacre and he was identified as "Tank Man." No one in the West was able to learn his name or fate, though there are rumours that he was arrested and never seen again. For a few days it looked like there would be a peaceful revolution leading to democracy. The West might have done more to encourage it when it was still possible but missed the chance. It was not that long after the fall of the Berlin Wall and anything seemed possible. He was a very brave man that almost changed the world. Today in China he is unknown.

yeah... it was in China.
I actually saw it...
but sorry man, I don't know his name.
to the idiotic shitheads who actually thought
they were being funny...
the guy was protesting against the government
in China... and he was alone.
took a lot courage to do something like that
at the time...
especially seeing how there was a very
real chance that he could get hauled
off and locked up and tortured...
for a very long time.
you dickheads don't have the balls
to stack up to him.

Are you talking about the uprising in Tiananemen Square in 1989? He is always labeled as "unidentified man." or "Unknown rebel." I don't think they ever found out who he was.
