It seems almost everyone who has read the Kite Runner loves it: all ages, all countries, all backgrounds. It reportedly has sold 9 million copies. If you read it but DIDN'T like it, what were your reasons (other than the fact that it was sad, which isn't a very good reason to not like a book I think).

It bored me to tears...I hated Amir and Hassan both. Most people said the rape scene was what put them off but, aside from being incredibly uncomfortable to read, it didn't really bother me. I just, didn't take to it. I read it on recommendation from several good friends but didn't like it at all. Perhaps it was because I had to read it for my book project, but I didn't really think it was that, I wasn't forced to choose it and had plenty of time to read the book and do the project. Hm, maybe it's just one of those things I'll never like but for no reason.

Overall, I really liked it but I got hung up on one detail. Near the end, he sees that girl at the outdoor market and they fall in love. I never saw her as being a necessary part of the story and never grew to like her character. She's the sappy line everyone expects to hear at a poetry slam. It sounds dumb, but I just didn't like her.

All the anal rape scenes had me wondering if it could be accepted as a true book or not. I'd hate to assume that alot of muslims are homosexual rapists just because of this book and a few scenes from Lawrence of Arabia.

i loved it. khaled hosseini managed to write such a strong bk that there isn't much complaint seriously..
