Wow! So far, out of 10 liberals who disagreed with you, only 2 could form a coherent and thoughtful response.
This is what frustrates us conservatives the most. We ask pointed questions, and get mostly blather from those who disagree with us.
To Patrick - True Corporations exist to make money, however they do that BY providing valuable goods and services. It is how they make the money.

Gun control keeps guns out of criminals' hands and makes cops feel safer (ever wonder why police unions tend Democrat?)
Corporations do not generously give Americans everything they need -- they exist solely to make money for themselves and must be regulated. Taxes ensure that society is run in an orderly manner, that government agencies actually have money to function (what would you do without firefighters?), and that the rich can't simply make the poor more poor. Or do you not care about the cycle of poverty that only makes the American economy weaker?
I have no love for Islamists, but I am neither racist, nor do I think that even most Muslims are Islamists. I also do not appreciate you telling me that I don't want them hunted down and brought to justice simply because I don't want the United States turned into a police state in order to find them. That's called letting the terrorists win.
And as for 'facts', it looks all you've got are your own opinions and some carefully-selected facts, omitting inconvenient things like public opinion, research, and what your opponents actually believe.

Will here some facts to help make them explore that much more. If we had gun laws that only American citizen could have guns then maybe the VA shooter wouldn't have gotten his hands on a gun. If there are laws against mentally unstable people getting there hands on guns, then he might not have shot those people. Gun control laws are only to pervent certain people from getting their hands on gun, not the law abiding citizen.
Yes out of control taxes will implode our economy!! And they will get that way because we have a war to start paying for a war that the current president didn't even figure into the budget when he made it. A budget that would be balance in five years minus the war. So Thank this endless war for taxes going up. A war that the man in charge of American military in Iraq said it would take up to 10 years to stablize. TAXES TAXES TAXES bills are made and they come due.
So correct about the Muslims they hate anything liberal so would they want a liberal in the white house?? Of course not they would want a republican in the white house.

haha this is hilarious, seeing that the liberals took over both houses of congress and there is exponential numbers of people against this war. lol islamists hating liberal beliefs? they hate all americans, no matter where you stand politically so you're argument is absolutely ridiculous. in fact, the world hates the bush administration more than the terrorists. you're not off the hook, they will behead you as well for being pro-bush and pro-israel. they don't appreciate how the U.S. feels this needs to impose "democracy" all over the middle east. keep in mind that the reason we have radical islam is the fact that the CIA deposed a democratically elected leader with the shah to prevent the iranian people from generating wealth from their own resources, which led to the islamic revolution and groups like hezbollah. they just do not want the west to screw them over again. we also trained and funded al-qaeda. we're in a war so cutting taxes has to be the craziest idea at this point, seeing that the troops need our support, we're in deep debt, and other nations loan us money to repay them. cutting taxes is definitely not money saved for the poor, but for the wealthy. to be honest, everyone in this country is a liberal; we enjoy being free. but for some reason the word "liberal" is a pejorative term lol. i wonder who reality is against at this moment. tons of emails deleted relating to the eight U.S. attorney firings? valerie plame? replacing military officers in charge of the war? whats up with that lol.

My friend, I have met many criminals in my line of work (as an attorney). They don't think about gun control at all, because they are stupid and don't think much of anything.
You are right about out of control taxes. And the tax system could use an overhaul. But taxes pay for everything you own, too, as well as everything you depend on. Taxes ensure that we have roads, which bring up property values. Taxes ensure that we have police and an army, which means that you get to keep everything that you own. Taxes ensure that we have courts and regulatory agencies, which mean that you can sue if a seller of the things you buy sells you something substandard and means that, hopefully, most of what you buy won't be substandard in the first place, so you won't have to worry. The system, built to a large extent on taxes to support the government, creates wealth, because when we buy or sell goods, real estate, or services, we know that, to a large extent, we aren't just throwing our money away. If the goods stink, we can sue in court or get other remedies. Think about it.
A house costs several hundred thousand dollars, because you know that chances are, you can exclude people from coming there. How much would you pay for a house if you couldn't be sure that, next week, some random person or group would take it away from you? A government provides security for all your things. When you pay taxes, you are getting a bargain. What you are really paying for is your share of an army to protect you, your family, and your stuff. If not for the government, you'd have to pay for a private army and someone to build roads for you. You can't afford that.
And, frankly, here in America, we have a lot of stuff. Those of us at the top can afford to pay a few more dollars. Politically, I don't think that the Democrats are really going to jack up taxes that much. And their are still a lot of Republicans around to keep taxes down. If Democrats get too stupid, they'll lose out like they did in 1994.
Islamists are a problem and should be watched closely. Anyone who disputes that is stupid. However, we screwed up this war in Iraq. We blew it. Why did we go there in the first place? Saddam was never a real threat after the first Gulf War. And here we are years later still there. It cost a lot less cornering Saddam. He wasn't a lover of Terrorists. On the contrary, he put down the religious zealots in his country. The terrorists wanted to get to him. But we did first and when we finally leave, the religious elements in Iraq will have much more power than we wanted them to have. I would say it's more than likely that some Islamists will probably take over Iraq now. We could have done better if we didn't make screw up after screw up in this war. Maybe if we would have thought about what we were going to do after the war prior to 8 weeks before we went in and put more effort into it.
But why did we go there in the first place? It wasn't because of WMD. It wasn't for oil. It was because Saddam had thumbed his nose at us. Not a good reason to go to war. Now the Islamists are really pissed at us.
It's true that Islamists hate liberal beliefs, but this war isn't making them like Democracy any better. People in the Middle East are starting to think that Democracy is just too messy. They want security and security apparently comes with a dictator. Partially, but certainly not completely, that's our fault. And now we're paying hundred of billions of dollars to make us slightly less safe and to make the Iraqis a lot less safe and to make us look like fools and idiots.
This is not to say that Republican ideals don't have their place. But there are enough bad facts on both sides of the aisle to go around.
Life is not simple. It's not black and white. Politics require compromises so that the vast majority of people live in peace. Bush is stubborn to a fault. A good leader is stubborn, but knows when to be sensible. I like Bush and think that Cheney and Rumsfeld, two close political allies and political opperatives par excellance, played Bush on Iraq.
I also think the Islamists played us. They kicks us in the teeth on 9/11 and got us to go into Iraq to flush out a guy the Islamists didn't like. Now, Iran is posed to make Iraq a client state instead of the mortal enemy that it was before. We could often play Iraq off Iran and vice versa, but we messed that up. Now, Iran is the power in the region. The world hates us. We've spent billions on this war and security. I think Bin Laden is sitting in a cave somewhere laughing at us. We should have had a big response to 9/11. Afghanistan was a good move. But after that, we just went nuts. That fact drives me crazy.

You do realize Iran has already started making the same type of laws people like you want in America right??
When you are that blinded by right-wing hatred, almost everyone else IS liberal.

who hunts with handguns? we need gun control.
if its not taxes its greed that destroys and is destroying our own economy. wealth must be dristributed.. and taxes force that to happen.
i some reservations about islam..but i dont think violence is the answer. kill em with kindness i say.
i think immigration must be controlled. but we must also look at the economic and political factors playing into the instability of the coutnries from which come a lot of immigrants. i think we will find their are some foreign policy choices we can make that might alleviate the troubles in those countries and reduce the number of people pushed to leave.
if you feel that you are right about something.. be open minded and do not be afraid. violence is not going to solve anything. only understanding and education. by understanding the other side you will be better ablet o understand your own.

They do that easily because they don't have facts that confirm or contradict their beliefs.
Living a life of acting as if you understand the things that you've yet to truly find really isn't difficult. That rings true in the liberal-mentality.
