Pasadena City College has a swap meet every Saturday. The Rose Bowl has a huge swap 2 Sundays a month. Old Town Pasadena has many shops, restaraunts, cafes, java houses and bars. Cheescake Factory, Barney's Beanery, Hooters, Yankee Doodles and more. CSULA is not far on the border of LA and Alhambra near the Dodger Stadium. The Huntington Art Gallery and Museum is in nearby San Marino. There is a cool movie theatre and shopping complex on Colorado Blvd. Near there down an alley is a Cafe that serves crepes and other gourmet foods. Have fun!

Can you take a bus up Lake to Altadena and go hiking in the Angeles Crest mountains? There's a trailhead at the northernmost part of Lake that takes you up to an abandoned resort and abandoned funicular railstation. On clear days (ok, won't be seeing that for many months) you can sometimes see all the way to Catalina Island, I swear. It's a bit out of the two mile zone but not by much. Also a good hiking trail north of JPL that goes to a river that runs year round. I guess you could sometimes hang out near JLo's restaurant Madres and see if she shows up there if she's in town
