If you like mystery and puzzles, "As Simple as Snow" by Gregory Galloway is a good choice. The main character is a gothic girl, and the story is extrememly interesting. The new gothic girl comes into a small town, and falls in love with the narrator. There are mix cds in the novel, and you could always have fun and download all the songs. Plus, the website is interactive, so that makes it fun too. You can sign up for e-mails to try and solve the mystery yourself. The reading level is fairly simple as well.

You should read A Child Called It, i'm your age and its a really good book. A Child Called “It” is a story based on a real life boys tribulations with his mothers shocking abuse. When he was younger Dave and his family were considered the “perfect” family. Then, all of a sudden his mother and father started drinking and had problems in their relationship. Dave started getting the worst treatment imaginable. His mother all of a sudden treated him as a nobody or an “It”. His father wouldn’t do anything about it and it made Dave hate him. She did many horrible things to him that he will never forget. He had two other brothers but they didn’t get any of their mother’s harsh beatings or tortures. David’s mother would starve him weeks at a time without giving him even a morsel of food. He had to steal food from stores and the school to survive. One day he stole hot dogs from the school cafeteria and someone caught him. When he got home his mother made him puke it up and then eat it again. She almost went to the extent of making David eat his baby brother’s feces. Another incident was when David was cleaning the kitchen floor for his mother. She all of a sudden.....
haha you have to read the rest of the book and see what else his mother did to him

ahh I want the post secret book. If this is for the 15 year old then look into the authors Meg Cabot (recommended books: All American Girl or The Mediator Series), Sarah Dessen (recommended books: The Truth About Forever or That Summer), and Ann Brashares (The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants).

Umm, dunno if she likes fantasy at all (sorry .. it's basically all I read).
If she doesn't like reading, how about the classic turning-people-into-liking-reading book - Harry Potter?
Or (if you aren't christian) the Da Vinci Code. I have gotten a bunch of people to read that who weren't "readers".
"The Beach" by Alex Garland (was made into a movie with Leo DiCaprio - but the book is better)
I liked "Magyk" by Angie Sage.
I like books by Isobelle Carmody, but she's Australian, not sure if her books are available ovcerseas (she has a lot of series, so make sure you get the first one if it's from a series).
"Children of the Dust" by Louise Lawrence was good, it's about a nuclear holacaust.
Uum, it's hard thinking of books... all I can remember are ones I've read recently. Hope this helps at all?
::EDIT::
Someone above mentioned "A Child Called It". I've read that, it's by David Pelzer, it's a true story and it's really sad, but really good. There's a series to it, the first oen is when he is really young and living with his mum, the second he is a teenager and living in foster care, and the thrid he is an adult. I recommend that one too.
And I was thinking about animals and I've remembered a series I really liked when I was around 15. It was called ... "Avalon - Web of Magic" by Shelly Roberts (I had to look it up lol). I can't remember what it was about, but I really liked it. It's about a magical land or something I think.
::EDIT #2::
I just remembered another one (I keep remembering as I press submit). The Chronicles of Narnia. That is very good (and has talking animals - for your sister who likes animals), I recommend the full series (7 books), because they all chain together really well, but maybe the huge full chronicle book would be a bit daunting for your non-reading sister.

If she likes crazy books that have clues and follow along stuff i just got this really cool book called CATHY'S BOOK, its written like its a girls journal and has a bag full of clues, numbers to call..even a lipstick kissed napkin..lol.. i havent gotten around to finish reading it, but so far its super cool..haha.
Another good book I read a couple of years ago that I couldnt put down was THE LONG ROAD HOME, a story about a little girl who has everything but her mom basically kicks her butt for every little thing..getting dust on her, walking a certain way.. and he dad does nothing..i dont wanna give the story away so i wont say anythign else :D

Twilight and New Moon by Stephenie Meyer are excellent. Two of my favorite books. They are very easy to read and extremely interesting the whole way through. Eclipse is the newest in the series. It comes out in early August. I'm sure it will be wonderful as well.

Paint It Black by Janet Fitch. It's in adult fiction but you'd probably like it. The main charactor is a punk runaway who's left in the aftermath of her artistic boyfriend's suicide. It reads a lot better then it sounds and is my favorite novel. It's graphic and has a lot of profanity if that matters to you. Janet Fitch is also the author of White Oleander, it was made into a movie and you may have seen it.

Tell her to find a book about someone or something she is interested in rather than a fiction novel ...for example if she liked Nirvana .. find Love and Death - The Murder of Kurt Cobain ...by Max Wallace and Ian Halperin .. I heard it was creepy .. I'm going to read it.

You should definitely either get Maximum Ride, or warriors(cats). I highly suggest Max Ride. Even for people who don't like to read, it'd be one of the best series you've ever read. Its a three book series to tell you. First one is 'The Angel Expirement'.
