Hi!

Depends on where you live now as to whether the moss will live or die... Also, consider that Spanish moss is parasitic, you will not want to hang it from the living branches of any plant you want to keep on living. Better to buy large bark encrusted limbs or bark shells to drape your moss on, place in a part of your home that has bright morning light and partial afternoon shade, mist heavily in the morning, and rotate out the bark base every summer. As I am also from the South, I love and miss Spanish moss and Cypress trees too... I do not however miss the mosquitoes and cockroaches big enough to carry off child hostages or a 5 lbs bag of dog food for snacks. LOL! Good luck Dierdrefaith!

Yes, I have hung it from my oak trees and sweet gum trees here in Mississippi. This plant requires humidity, generous rainfall and mild winter temperatures. If you live in Zone 8 you can most definitely try it. Some people have even reported growing it in California! It is not parasitic by the way, but it may block out some sunlight thereby slowing the growth of trees and a tree heavy with it may be more prone to wind damage.

I have but living in Mo. it died out in the winter. I guess it really only survives in the southern heat. I love the looks of it too!

I would be VERY surprised if they hadn't! I think it looks pretty cool- too. Kinda "gothic"- in a romantic sort of way... :)
