Cause they want to show the world that they're kind which I think is not really the essence of being kind.

because the good deed is a reward in itself philosophy isn't true. most of us need a pat on the back for doing the right thing or want to feel good about it. ever see the friends episode where joey tells phoebe there really is no such thing as a truly unselfish deed? :) i do it myself, i try to be subtle about it though, and casually work it into conversation, rather than bragging. character flaw i am working on. great question!

They want some sort of acknowledgment for it. Those are the people that do it for the wrong reasons. I do nice things because its not only the right thing to do but physically and mentally makes me feel better. I never realized there was a difference until it was pointed out to me. (kudo's to my step-mommy for this one, I love you Sandy!)

i used to organize a christmas party for children who are or have been affected by aids in some way- not to talk up my charity work but...
we had a nasty incident where a little girl's photo appeared in the ny post and her family didn't know that her father had died of aids- the family said he had cancer. anyway, because of that we decided that the press would not be involved in future events.
every since then, it became almost impossible to get a celebrity to come out for one of our parties. as soon as i would tell them there would be no press they were not intersted. sad but true

It's about the all mighty EGO! without our ego we wouldn't care to accomplish anything of substance. Especially in the the eyes of our peers. Hell why we have games of all types in every faucet of our lives? to compete

How would you know that most of the people do? If they keep it quiet...
The ones that do? Probably just excited about it...Or maybe they're famous and want to rid themselves of a "diva" reputation...

I am not sure. I think some might be sharing that experience and perhaps it comes across this way? I would rather think this than to think most would brag! ...Just my thoughts

two reasons i can think of. 1) they want you to know they did something kind to make them look good. 2) They genuinely want to share their act of kindess with someone.
