Currently, I am twenty-one years old (almost 22) and am considering scheduling an appointment to meet with my physician.

I wonder if I'd be a canidate for breast reduction? I have back pain, my shoulders hurt (from the bra strap) and there are even indentations in my shoulders from the straps.

What are you thoughts on such a procedure? Have you had it done? Do you know anyone? What your afterthoughts???

You would be a great candidate for that surgery. I had it done Feb 2006 and my back pain was GONE after I woke in the recovery room.

I do not regret it one bit and my only wish is that I got it done sooner.

This site helped me out tons before and after my surgery.

Definetely. I am 21 (almost 22) and I had my surgery 8 weeks ago. I had back pain, indents from my bra straps, interanl and external bruising under my ribcage from where my heavy breasts pushed the underwire underneath my ribs, and due to the limitations in clothing constantly looked fat.

I absolutely love myself and my boobs now, I mean seriously I cant stop looking at them and loving the fact that they are now a big handful each, rather than 3 big handfuls each.
Everyone tells me how skinny I look, mainly as I now have an extra inch of a waist. I even had someone ask me if I had implants as they are now so perky and firm.

It is worth every dollar you spend on it and for me I realy did not suffer from much pain at all.

Good luck

** I noticed that someone else mentioned you dont need to wear underwire, but NEVER wear a bra that does not have support. Before my surgery I wore a bra 24 hours a day and even now after my surgery I still wear one all day and night- you don't want your new smaller breasts to end up being saggy. Good surgeons will inform you to always wear a supportive bra.

Did you watch "Doctor 90210?" It was all about plastic surgery of every kind. But I knew the answer to your question before I saw the show.

You are a perfect candidate for a breast reduction. The back pain especially. And the other problems you mentioned. My mother had to go to a special store to buy bras. She had back pain, and had them reduced to a 36C. It changed her life. That was over 10 years ago. You don't want to spend the rest of your life suffering if you don't have to, right? Do it, sweetie, and it'll be the best decision you ever made.

Have you seen Vanna White since she had her breasts reduced? She looks so much more comfortable, happy, and beautiful in her clothes. Just be sure you get a doctor who's done at least 100 reductions. And look at before and after pictures. You might even want to speak to some of his former patients. And, in this case, you get what you pay for. So I say, "Go for it!!"

i myself had the surgery 3 years ago. i had the same problems. the sores from the bra strap, the indentions on my shoulders and the back pain. i had to sleep sitting up or on my side. laying flat was never an option. beside the vain part of summers bein horrible, from never being able to wear the cute bathing suits or the two pieces i had a hard time finding shirts that kept me cool. i am very happy i got the surgery, my self confidence got a great boost as well. and i went out and bought my first 2 pieces swimming suit when i healed. the healing time takes awhile. you have to wear a surgical bra for about a month and then you can only wear sports bras or bras without underwire. but trust me it is sooo worth it.

I discussed this with my physician for the same reasons. I've had very severe back problems that have required prescription painkillers and muscle relaxers. What my doctor said was that if I planned to have any more children, it would be better to wait until after that. Apparently, breast reduction surgery damages the mammary glands in the breast, preventing the milk from escaping and causing engorged breasts with no hope of relief (and believe me, engorged breasts hurt). I kind of want a second opinion, but I haven't gotten around to getting it yet.

Aside from that, I can definitely understand where you're coming from, and breast reduction is a reasonable thing to want when you're in pain.

One of my best friends had the procedure done a few months ago (she was 18 at the time) after trying to lose weight for a year. She, too, had back pain and couldn't be happier about the results. It also made her appear skinnier and i've noticed her confidence has boosted as well.
I think you would definitely benefit from at least scheduling an appointment. Good luck!

I know you want answers from experience but my aunt and my sister in law both had theirs reduced. They couldnt be happier. You have to ask your doctor what he/she thinks because they are the ones who make that call on if you should have the surgery done or not. My aunt went from and F cup to a DD and my sister in law a DD to a C and both of them have lkess back pain and no more shoulder strap marks. Hope this Helps!

Breast reduction surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her breast reduction, tummy tuck and facelift surgery in India by the company called Forerunners Healthcare .The Price for the surgery she paid in India was very less. She paid 30% of the cost she was quoted in America.

Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. They arrange cosmetic and plastic surgery for foreigners in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low price, as the breast reduction, tummy tuck, facelift and other cosmetic surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Hope this helps.
