It'll be normal but messy.
Don't let him go down there, and wash up afterwards. He'll have a bloody tool when he's done, some guys get grossed out.

It is a personal decision between you and your partner... I tend to feel uncomfortable about such things only because I am a somewhat private person. However, there are two things that draw me out of this self-protectedness... ONE is if my partner is unaffected by such added mess and is sweet and patient to help settle my hesitations and TWO is that my highest drive is during that time! I've also found that, while it is still a bit messy, the flow seems to dwindle a little bit during intercourse (sort of like it does in the shower), so it doesn't end up as messy as one might expect. Excellent hygene and cleaning up prior to can go a long way in preserving the mood... and the shower afterwards can be a wonderful continuation of the closeness you two are sharing. Oh, and the Today sponge is back on the market, and I found that to be a big help as well... especially since I've read numerous articles saying that there is slight risk of pregnancy from unprotected sex during your period...

Expect it to be very messy.
It is a bit of a big deal simply because messy sex sounds like a complete mood downer.
You should try not to have sex while on your period. If possible, have it in the shower where it will easily come off as you are having sex. Use a condom and protect fabrics.

I agree with the other comments... same as usualy, just a lot messier! It actually use to gross me out while it has never bothered my hubby at all. I am trying to find a classy way of saying this, but since it is more 'lubed' down there, can feel pretty dang good for both parties. So I say if you are both comfortable with it, go for it, just prepare, lay a towel and get the shower ready!

try having a shower together or laying down a towel. it will be messy, but shouldnt feel much different than normal. if either you or your guy aren't comfortable with it, then just wait the few days until its over. usually for the sake of both of you're minds, you should probably try for a day that your flow is not as heavy. worst come to worst, use the hands and forget the intercourse. there will always be another time to enjoy yourselves.

Everything will be the same except you will get a lot of blood and mess depending on your flow. He won't want to go down on you but he can finger you if the blood doesn't matter to him. Use a towel to lay on and make sure you understand the 2 of you will have to wash up afterwards. Some guys get grossed out by the blood. Hope yours doesn't. :)

Everyone keeps saying its messy...it actually varies.It could be very heavy if you bleed in that manner,or if its the first day.I have sex on my period and it is not messy at all...its kind of like when you take a bath,it seems to suppress it for that moment..but thats just me...I only bleed heavy that first day...it all depends...and for those who seems to think it smells you have hygiene issues..you can not walk in the room behind everyone and know sex is being had..you can not smell a period...what they are smelling is their uncleanliness unfortunately...see your gyne if you smell yourself and consider it foul;

My Ob/GYN told me to NEVER have sex during my period.
1 st - Your Cervix is slighlty open and that will allow any infection on enter.
2nd - The thrusting of the penis may cause a blood clot to enter in your tubes and that will cause a blockage - which means bad news and expensive surgery to remove.
3rd- (my opinion) it's just a dam mess - even with a towel. Looks like you killed a pig.

It's a little messy, depending on your flow. Just lie on a towel while you are busy and then have a shower together to clean up afterwards.
Just make sure that your partner knows you have your period, otherwise he might think that he's hurt you.

I've been having sex for 12 years and I've always avoided it during "that time" but I have pretty short cycles and I have endometriosis, so it hurts pretty bad. Maybe you just shouldn't do it if you don't feel right about it.
