8x/3 -1/6 = 4x-4 +1/4
4x- 8x/3 = 4 -1/4 -1/6
(12x -8x) /3 = (48 - 3 -2) /12
4x/3 = 43/12
4x = 43/4
x = 43/16

8x / 3 -1 / 6 = 4 ( x-1 ) + 1 /4
(16 x - 1 ) / 6 = [ 16 (x - 1) + 1 ] / 4 . . . . . cancel the 2 in denominator
32 x - 2 = 48 ( x - 1) + 3 . . . cross multiply
32 x - 2 = 48 x - 48 + 3
16 x = 43
x = 43 /16

Solving for X?
8x/3-1/6= 4(x-1)+1/4
multiply through by 12 since that will eliminate 3 fractions
32x - 2 = 48(x-1) + 3
multiply 48 times the contents in the parens.
32x - 2 = 48x - 48 + 3
subtract 32x from both sides of the equation
-2 = 16x - 45
add 45 to both sides
43 = 16x
divide both sides by 16
x = 43/16 = 2 11/16

8x/3 - 1/6 = 4(x-1) + 1/4
8x/3 - 1/6 = 4x - 4 + 1/4
8x/3 = 4x - 4 + 5/12
8x/3 = 4x - 43/12
-4x/3 = -43/12
x = (-43/12)(-3/4) = 43/16 ~ 2.6875

8x/3-1/6= 4(x-1)+1/4
8x/3-1/6=4x-4+1/4
8x/3-4x= -4+1/4+1/6
-4x/3 = (-96+6+4)/24
-4x/3 = -84/24
x= -84*3/(24*-4)
x=21/8

well first try to simply things:
8x/3 -1/6 = 4x -4 +1/4...now try to get rid of fractions
multiply both side by 6:
16x - 1 = 24x -24 + 6/4....now to get rid of other fraction, mulitply by 4
64x - 4 = 96x -96 +6....now bring x-s to one side, and the numbers to the other:
86 = 32x, x = 43/16
