I think the punishment is too harsh... Who gets jail time (40 days especially) for a traffic violation? ...that was rhetorical...

But anyways, do you honestly think, minus how you feel about her personal life, that Paris deserves the jail time?

A case review study showed that non-celebs do not do as much time for the same thing so at this point she is getting singled out.

Just because she's rich doesn't make her immune to all of the laws we have in place. What if she was nobody, just a random redneck from someplace we've never heard of? These things happen every day, and no one makes a big deal about everyone else. In fact, normally they give a much harsher sentence to the average American. Regardless of her status, she should have to live by the laws of the road. What if she had killed someone when she was drinking and driving? She is LUCKY that she ONLY got 40 days. How hard would it have been for her to call for a ride home? She knew she was disobeying the law by driving with a suspended license and yet she chose to do it anyway. This disregard and disrespect is what caused her the grief in the first place. Maybe this will be a wake-up call for her and she will realize that as far as the judicial system is concerned, Paris Hilton is no better than the rest of us.

It wasn't just a traffic violation. She violated the terms of her probation, that she received for a DUI. That's serious business, and 40 days was justified. Besides, she'll only serve 23 for good behavior in the "Hilton" area of the prison. That's not so harsh.

What I feel she doesn't deserve, however, is what her neighbors are trying to do to her. While she's in jail, they are passing around a petition and trying to get their HoA to boot Paris from her own home and neighborhood. That's taking things way too far, in my opinion. She's doing her time, it's time to live and let live.

She deserves at least 40 days. She did not go to jail over a traffic violation it was because she violated her probation. You see your precious Paris likes to drive drunk and/or with out a license.

She violated probation not once but twice. Got a pass the first time and showed late for court the 2nd time.

The judge has been on the bench 35 years and knows very well that 45 days does not mean 45 days.

I watched a Probate Judge berate an attorney for not being in coat and tie in his courtroom.

They all have busy schedules and no tolerance for flippant behavior. She got zapped for 2 Probation hits. He could have charged her with contempt for showing late and locked her up on the spot.

Longer jail time is better for Paris Hilton because she never learns from being charged with an offense. Maybe, she has the feeling that she can pay the law enforcers.

Sure she does. She violated her probation and got a slap on the wrist. If that was anybody else, we would have gotten harder punishment. If she wouldn't have got caught, she would be doing the same thing again, and don't you say she would not have done this. She thought she could drive her car when her license is suspended and not get caught, but she did.

Umm lets see dui, driving on suspension, driving on suspension again... thumbing my nose at the law because I am rich and even though I could have a chauffer drive me anywhere I want I like to be irresponsible because I can.
I think more than 40 days would be appropriate.
And honestly I really dont give a damn about the spoiled beotch.

She violated her probation on a DUI 3 times by driving with a suspended license!. Uh, yeah - she deserves the time!

H'ell yes. It was more than a traffic violation. She got her license suspended because she was driving drunk at night with no head lights, then drove several times under a suspended license. She deserved it, the rich brat.
