I started at about 1 -2 years old. I have taught each of my six children to swim by the time they were 6 months old. They could hold their breath, turn over and wait to be picked up from the pool - in case they fell in. All are awesome swimmers. All love the water.

I was first in the pool at 3 months. I could swim by the time I turned a year. I was jumping off the diving board when I was 2.
We always had an in-ground pool and I was always a swimmer. My mom used to call me a water rat (lovingly of course!). I never took lessons, my mom taught me in our backyard, she thought the best safety measure was knowledge and I agree with her.
I started swimming competitively when I was 8. I still race today and am now more involved in open water distance and triathlon than pool swimming. I also coach a USA Swimming team in the winter season.

My family has owned a pool since the 80's. I was born in 88 and cannot remember a summer where I didn't go swimming. There are pictures of me in the pool when I was no older than 2, but I did wear arm floaties untill I was about 5. My neice just turned 6 and is swimming like a fish. She hasn't wore floaties since she was 4. If you have children I would highly suggest getting them used to the water and until they are comfortable in the water and can swim make them wear floaties.

I got my start at about 5 years old. And good thing, too. When I was 8, I was pulled down twice by some fierce currents while on vacation at the beach. Wouldn't be here if my parents didn't force me to learn swimming.

My 2 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous became presented to the water till now he became a 300 and sixty 5 days previous and he's now 2 a million/2 and swims extra advantageous than my 5 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous. My sister presented her son (who's now 5) to the water whilst he became some months previous and now at 5 he swims rather stable. My cousin did an identical along with her son who's now 6 and he can swim below water. My different cousin waited till her son became 4 to introduce him to swimming and he became so petrified of the water that at exceedingly much 6 years previous he won't be able to swim. i could pass with introducing them early so they comply with being interior the water and trusting you interior the water. Then as they become previous you initiate introducing the extremely swimming, yet they are able to kick their legs as toddlers. by utilizing age 3 they are rather waiting to start genuine swimming. they grant swim instructions around here that are divided into instructions. 6 wks- 3 hundred and sixty 5 days, 3 hundred and sixty 5 days-2 years, 2-3 years,4-6 years, 6-12 years then it strikes into stronger swimming with distinctive categories of swimming which consists of diving off the intense dive. some swimming pools do it distinctive this is merely how this is at our close by pool. as much as 3 hundred and sixty 5 days that is all approximately getting them to have confidence the water.
