Men aren't always available, and now days a lot of the times it's the man that's supposed to be protecting her that she needs protecting from.
I think it's okay, but think it's a huge responsibility and she needs to take a gun safety course as does anyone that is carrying a gun.

I had always thought that a man owning a gun would be a deal-breaker for me. I'd leave him for it. I have an extreme fear of guns, largely to do with an ex of mine that I discovered too late was crazy. He held a loaded gun to my head to teach me to not be afraid of guns. And before I found a safe way out of the relationship, something happened that was even worse than that. Once when I was at his house, he heard someone walking outside. He was so paranoid that he thought someone was spying on him. He grabbed his gun and grabbed me and dragged me outside. He proceeded to start firing in the direction of the noise, intending to kill. So for me, I had never wanted anything to do with any guns more dangerous than a simple water pistol. Only lately have I been changing my mind about being with a man who owned a gun. I've been seeing a wonderful man who's military. So of course, he owns guns. So far I've been ok with it. But at the same time, I haven't been to his house yet, so I haven't been in the same building as them. I'm hoping that my fear doesn't ruin what could be a really good relationship.
So, I guess this is my roundabout way of saying, I don't think anyone should be able to carry guns except for in the scope of their jobs (police, military). If a woman has one of these jobs, then she also has the gun to go with it. I however, will never be seen with one in my hands ever again.

Well if men were given the task of protecting women, you wouldn't hear about so many of us getting raped. I'd say you men do horrible jobs of protecting women, and I love my guys trust me but yes women should be allowed to carry guns and whatever else they feel like to protect themselves, because there are some really sick men out there who get pleasure from hurting women. What exactly is your religion anyways?!?!

I would never have or use a gun because I have always been afraid of guns and it could be used against me but if other women wants to carry a gun to protect herself then it should be up to her. Just guns are not for me.

I can agree with your point of view.
It is bad enough that men must go off to war, but these days, both parents are off to war or there is no father to stay behind.
I'm gonna get lots of thumbs down for this but I don't care. Phooey to equal rights. We women don't have to do everything that a man does, even doing everything that a man does anyway, we are not getting paid fairly, so why don't we just go back to being women, not superwoman!

If the woman is in the armed forces, then yes.
For all other purposes, I see no need for either women or men to carry a gun.
There was a tragedy here on Monday, because of one man, his inability to handle his rage, and a gun. Very sad.

I was friends with a married couple from a little town in Florida. Both of them were raised around weapons. He made sure she carried a shotgun in the truck. She only ever had to defer to it's authority once that I know of. But it's a good thing her husband had covered that base.
They were a riot. Way fun, loving folks.
And with the shotgun, see, she didn't have to even aim. Just point it where you want it to fire and......boom! She's so cool.

sure, why not, men do so why can't women?
So your religion forbids women to ...gear up with weapons of war. What are they supposed to do just stand there and take it? That's not sensible. Sometimes you just can't draw a guy away from the football game.

Okay dude 21st century. Women have just as much right to carry guns in their profession as men do. Whether it be a female in the army or a female police officer, they have that right. It's not about men protecting women, it's about people in those jobs protecting their nation, and the community.

Yes, I believe it's okay for a man or woman to carry a gun. It's our right, in America, to bear arms and I fully support that right.
