NO WAY!! Cash is going to disappear, and a lot faster than you think, some say in the next tens years there will be no cash, only 'credits'. Don't know about the timing, but it will come to pass at some point.
Money is just a medium of exchange, and there can be no economy of any type with out a monetary system. Of course one could argue for total anarchy where we get to kill and steal for what we need or want. :)

There would need to be some turn of events or some scientific breakthrough bordering on the miraculous to upend the need for money in some form.

yes, when all farm land is monoplized by energy/fuel corporations, and prisons take the place of arpartment complexes, with inmates used a laborers on these farms.
