Try to return it for the cash.... Yeah right, like the rest of you are so high and mighty. The only downside is the store may be able to trace the original purchaser if there was a barcode on the ring or receipt. Most upscale stores will issue an appraisal along with the purchase and that should at least have the name.

The solitaire, by a long shot. In fact I'd like it even with only one center diamond, or with one center diamond and two small side diamonds. Larger diamonds are more expensive, because they're more rare. So a whole lot of tiny diamonds do not equal the value of one large diamond, even if the carat weights add up to the same. If this is to be an engagement ring, I'd suggest that you let your fiancée express her preferences. After all, she'll be the one who'll wear the ring for years and years. She may even want the smaller, nicer center diamond, with few or no side diamonds.

I would go to the store where it was purchased, ask if anyone has lost a ring. They'll usually go back to the store,to see if an honest person turned it in.If anybody is looking for it,they have to provide a full description of the ring and the exact amount they paid for it.Also the date it was purchased. That would be the only way that I would release it,to the rightful owner. If no one claims it,I'd keep it.

call the store...
they might remember who purchased it
or the person might return to the store..
all i could think was that some man paid good money to propose to his woman..
that ring deserves to go to those two people.
could always place an ad to see who was in the store on that day..and ask the people what they bought.
the ring was bought out of love..and truly deserves to go to the two people who are in love.

Turn it over to the police - after taking a picture of the ring and making a copy of the receipt - and let them locate the owner.

Take it back to the store and explain the situation. Hopefully you will get a reward.
