when you go one way and your knee doesn't go. It is better to have a pulled ligament than a torn one. I tore mine and had to have surgery to repair it. With a pulled on all you need is to ice and rehab it and you should be fine.

your knee has many ligaments. Ligament are there to prevent your knee plus legs from moving out of position. The lateral and medial ligaments prevent excessive left to right movement. the anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments prevents excessive forward and backward movement of the knee. Pulled in medical terms means that it is stretched beyond it's normal range and therefore the term strained ligament (same meaning as pulled). There are few grades of pulled ligaments depending on the severity of the injury. Ligaments are a troublesome area to have a injury as recovery usually takes anything from 1 -6 months or even years depending on the severity.

You have tendons that help attach mucles to bones which help you move.

But you ALSO have ligaments(which are very similar to tendon material) that hold one bone to another.

In and around your knee joint you have an ACL, PCL, and MCL.
Anterior Cruciate Ligament
Posterior Cruciate Ligament
Medial Cructiate Ligament

If the ACL or PCL break you might hear a loud pop followed by your knee becoming weak and not supporting your weight.

You have a pulled ligament which just means you stretched one of those ligaments without quite snapping it in two. Hopefully, it was your MCL because that is known to heal back to close to normal.

Ligaments are like rubber bands connecting the joints together. If you pulled a ligament, but didn't tear it, you will heal. Rest off it, ice and compression to reduce swelling.
