I feed my russian around mid morning after he's had time to bask and warm up...he also get's a bath in lukewarm water a couple of times a week to keep him hydrated...he always enjoys a good meal after a soak =)

Good Food:
- edible flowers
- the leaves and stems of many yard plants, like clover, etc.
- edible hays and grasses
- dark leafy greens
- orange/yellow-orange veggies

OCCASIONAL treats:
- fresh berries

RARELY feed:
- spinach
- kale, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower

NEVER feed:
- fruit
- meat
- dog or cat food
- eggs
- leftovers
- peppers, onions, corn
- bread, rice, grains

i don't think it really matters. try different times of the day and see which time they seem to eat the most. my Russian turtles usually eat at night, but can eat in the morning too!
