Does the possession of handguns by the general public increase or decrease crime in general?

decrease....look at Europe and England and Australia....they banned them and have to have armed guards at stores and banks in triplicate....and whats funny is the dem/lib coalition's godhead himself,the great taco bill clinton,even admitted that "gun control cost algore the presidency" and they still try to pass that cr*p...its a no-go...smart informed people know that criminals will never give up their guns and that any type of gun control will only disarm honest citizens and leave us at the mercy of armed thugs who will then have no fear at all.....remember.."God made man,Col Colt made them equal"

It's impossible to answer this question because your question is way to broad....Shoplifting is a crime. Does the fact that people can carry guns stop some kid from shoplifting a 50 cent pack of gum? Not likely...What about cheating on your taxes? That's a crime....This is just my guess but what you meant to ask was does it have any effect on violent crime....Does the murder rate or armed robbery rate go down in states that allow it's population to carry firearms? Probably not. I live in Texas and there's still 10 minutes worth of murder on the evening news every night and we carry guns down here. The thing is, not everyone is going to carry guns so those people will be targets and the criminals know it. It think it's fine that we're allowed to carry them but I doubt it does anything to change crime statistics.....

Gun Control== Aim with both eyes, use both hands, and squeeze... If every man student it the first classroom at VT that that murderous lunatic went into had had a gun/ side arm ,, would that nut have made it to the next room to continue his spree?? Well, of course not. That coward would not even have gone into the room- he would not go to war with men well prepared to contain him.. he only had the nerve to attack the unarmed , untrained, unable to fight back.

The crime stats show the states that allow citizens to carry are safer than those that limit the rights of citizens.
