I just bought a cute pair of underwear that could be tectnically worn for swimming purposes. The material is 93% Cotton, 7% Spandex. Will they be damaged by pool water? Will they fade? They are baby blue in color.

Chlorine has some similar properties to bleach. It may fade or discolor your undies since they are not meant for swimming in. Check the tag, it is says "use non-chlorine bleach" or anything about "color safe bleach" then don't risk it.

Plus, cotton tends to cling more to the body and dries slower than typical swimsuit fabrics. Having wet cotton close to your netheregions for extended periods of time can cause yeast infections and other irritations so if you DO go swimming in those undies make sure you don't wear them long afterward while they are wet!

The pool will have chlorine in it so it will eventually will fade the clothes.... mine and my kids' swimsuits usually show some fading by the end of the season... i would think cotton would be even easier to fade.

Good luck!

the chlorine will probably do something weird to the color, it fades and discolors most fabrics.
