It happens, and if you're period stops for longer than 3 months at a time, then you need to see a doctor. Something could be very wrong and if you want kids in the future, I suggest you tell you're mother what's happening and head for a doctor.

This is a quote from a doctor in my SEVENTEEN magazine: "Your cycle may just be irregular. Or it could be stress, which triggers the hormone cotisol that reduces the hormones that bring on your period. When the stress is over, your period should go back to normal. Losing weight or gaining a lot of weight can also throw hormones and your period out of whack. If you don't get your period for three months or more, see a doctor."

For a young lady just starting out with her periods it is normal for the periods to be irregular for a time because the body is adjusting to the changes going on inside.

I would also recommend telling your mom what is going on so that she's aware.

Yes, it is pretty normal for someone just starting with her period. My daughter started her period 2 years ago and still miss a month or 2 sometimes more.

Yes, It is normal. Lots of things can cause a period to be delayed ... diet, exercise, stress, weight, lots of other things. I never had more than 3 periods a year until after my baby was born and I went on the pill.. That is just the way your body works. Perfectly normal for you.

Yes, that's normal. Your period can be "out of whack" for the first year. It wasn't too bad for me, but I know that when it first starts that it can be an on again, off again type of thing. Just don't have sex because you can still get pregnant if you do.

You don't need to worry. If you recently got your period (within 1-2 years) then, it can be irregular. It is pretty unpredictable until you've had your period for a while.

If you've never had any boy bits by your girl bits then you can't be pregnant.

It's pretty common for a girls period to be at random times for teh first three years or so. I never had a regular one from when I started at age 11. Went on birth control when I was 17 just so I'd know when to expect my period.

Yes. Very normal. Since you have just started - it may take awhile for you body to have "normal" cycles.

Also - a menstrual cycle is also directly related to how much body fat a woman has in relation to her size. So if you are super thin -- that could be a cause too. (and it's also why women athletes stop menstrating too)

If you are nervous - go see your doctor.
