Why is it that when two women are close friends they're automatically labeled "lesbians", but when two men are close friends no one says a thing.

I think men are insecure about two women being close and being a man I am sure other men would be pissed at me for saying that, but it's true. If you are close to a female friend dont worry about what men think or say. If you two are locking lips then maybe it's true... Women are nurturing, it's in their DNA so they hug and are girly towards one another for a lack of better words.

The same reason a man can sleep with hundreds of women and be praised for it and a woman who has slept with 20 is a slut. Men are ignorant for the most part it is in their nature.

(*laughter*) It just depends on who you hang around. I think people just have too much concern for other people's business. I've heard as many guy friends accused of being gay as I've heard women accused of being lesbians. My favorite still is when a man and a woman are friends, they MUST be having an affair. (*oy*) People need to just mind their own business.

i don't think many people label two women who are close lesbians. women naturally are close, gay or not. i think more people label men who are close gay. i think its more a hollywood/tabloid thing, example oprah and gail.

i work in bingo and we have 2 women come in and they are both married to men. but my grandmother (the boss) calls them lesbians. They dont look like it or act like it to me.

They're not.
If those 2 girls makeout or anything like that, then they are called lesbians.
If guys did that, they would be considered gay then.
I'm uberly close to a lot of girls, and kiddingly I wink at them and blow kisses at them (they are my close friends) and no one considers us lesbians, they know we're just playing.

It comes from the the latin word "lesbia" which meant a "rug cleaner". In Rome the lesbia's would clean the rugs of the palace

well girls tend to be more comfortable with their really close friends. you just ignore the people or set them strait
