Yes, Jack really shouldn't jump over the candlestick, 'cause this might happen. (Kids, don't try this at home!!)

Cuz it's a nursery rhyme, and he didn't have control over what he did with or without the candlestick.

because he was nimble and quick indicating ADHD thus he was compelled to jump over the candlestick...and who says it was on the floor? His busy little self might have been hopping around on the dining room table...
