My husband is gona file for a divorce and he's gona pay for it and I just want to know how much does it cost? We've been married for 2yrs, no kids. We live in NYC. Does anyone know prices or if I will need a lawyer? Please anyone let me know because I want to be ready. This is the most painful thing I've gone through. I want to know all the info and searching for it has become so frustrating and stressful. Any help will be appreciated, thanks.

Divorce ranges from $250.00 to $700.00 He asked, damnit he PAYS! Let him do the home work. It is costly ALL AROUND kids or not, I have been there, and I will pray for you, it hurts like hell, and is a crazy psycho mess of emotions... He can get a do it yourself kit at Staples, or Office Max or Office depot too, but it will take 6 mos or so to be finalized, and I sugest separating FIRST, even though you want to leave his ***in a NY minute, it will be healthier if you get some breathing room first if you can. Can you get out of the city? It is hard to stay married in NYC, I know.

In the state of Ohio, We payed 175.00 to file the papers. But it got a little sticky when it came to the children. So a lawyer was needed to iron out the details for that.
But since you have no kids, it should be rather easy for the both of you. If there is property involved, then start shopping for a lawyer. And believe me.....they are all snakes! They want to do nothing and be paid very well. Just try to have everything ironed out before you see the "snake". Everytime you have to go back and have the paperwork changed, the "snake" wants more money for the changes.

I am so sorry about your divorce.
Go to totaldivorce.com and find your state. You can fill out a form and talk to an attorney about prices. It depends on what your specific situation is. If you have few assets and no kids, and you can agree on a lot of the issues, your divorce will not cost as much.
Totaldivorce.com is the best attorney resource on the internet and it also has a lot of information about the process and what to do/not do. It will be a lifesaver for you, hon.

I think you should call a lawyer that specializes in family law and/or divorce and set-up a free consultation. They should be able to answer any questions you have at that time.

If no kids or property together you really don't need a lawyer. I didn't hire one because we had nothing together.
