I know how it feels. Use Deep Woods Off with Deet. Works best for me. I would call a friend or family member to help you look for ticks on your body. Check under/around your bra area and your under pant area as well. They like to hide there. You should check your dog as well, if you have them, the dog might too. Get Frontline plus for the dog if your going to do this often. Make it safe as well. Make sure when you take the tick out, the head comes with it. Smother it with petroleum jelly, that helps, or touch it with a hot (blown out) match. That works sometimes. Then clean the area really good with peroxide. If you don't have a friend, family member, neighbor to help, go to urgent care or ER if you absolutely have too. Then take a shower, but don't scrub too hard. You don't want to "rip" any off your body. Also, 1 more thing. Put your clothes with shoes, in the washer on hot, and kill what might be on the clothes, and the dog collar/leash too. Then get a glass of wine or something to drink and relax, it's over.

Take a long hot shower, throw your clothes in the wash, and bathe the dog.

Any spray or creme with DEET will keep ticks off.

Keep a watch on the tick bite, if it stays red more than 24 hours, go to the doctor for blood tests and antibiotics.

When outside wear long pants, long sleeves and tuck your pants inside your socks.

Remove your clothes as soon as you get inside and wash them.

The vet has good medications for your dog that will keep ticks from attaching.

BUT ticks and fleas will hitch a ride on the dog and you, fall off in the house and then seek out a blood meal later.

if a tick has already embedded it's head in your skin, get some vaseline, and put a huge glob on the tick, it will not be able to breath and it will pull out of your skin so you can then use a tissue to remove it with the glob. If ticks are crawling on you, pick them off before they embed silly. Watch the area where they bit you, if you develop a ring of red skin, see a doctor.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!!!! IF YOU FOUND A TICK ON YOUR BODY!!!!!! put it in either a plastic bag and seal it shut or put it in a small container of rubbing alcohol...Take it to your nearest ER or your doctors office and have it sent to a lab for identification...deer ticks are the ticks that carry lyme disease...identifying it will aid in testing you for the disease...the doctor will probably also order a Lyme Titer which is a simple blood test. In order to remove the tick from your skin it is IMPERATIVE that is done properly..don't try to pick it off as its head (if embedded) will stay in your skin it needs to be scraped off with a flat object such as a credit card. You HAVE to get to the doctors as soon as possible...and it is mostly just to rule it out...DO NOT WAIT to see if a red circle develops...that's like waiting until you seize your engine before you get an oil change...

Since you said that you had a tick in your side, you should see a doctor to make sure that you got ALL of it out. My sister had Lyme Disease from a similar situation. Better to be safe than sorry.

I don't think they have tick repealant for people.

Remove the ticks as soon as you find them. Wear gloves and use a fine point tweezers.

I pasted a link from idsociety.org below about Lyme Disease

Contact your doc if you experience any symptoms.

Good Luck, best wishes.
