No. Happiness is not external..it's internal. Things won't make you happy. Other people can't make you happy. You have to decide for yourself, and inside yourself, to allow yourself to find happiness.
(*shrug*) I did the marriage thing. It certainly didn't make me happy. Just the opposite. I can't say I've ever been as miserable as I was when I was married. I'm naturally a happy sort, and my marriage sucked the joy out of life.
I had a child. She didn't make me happy. However, I have to admit I found alot of joy in raising her. Alot of annoyance. More than a little frustration. And lots of laughter. However, the happiness still came from within.
The good news is, you don't have to get married or have children to be a complete and happy person. Just allow yourself to entertain the possibility that you can still be happy, and be married or have children. They aren't mutually exclusive.

All your life it's the only thing you hear: go to school, go to college, get a job, get married. It's like some magic formula for life that people shove down your throat from the moment you're able to understand them.
Well, I don't subscribe. Why do people think marriage is such a necessity? I'm happily single. A dedicated bachelor. I've got a fast climbing career and things are good.
Honestly, in this emotionally obsessed feminist culture, I think another woman is the last thing I need.
Sigh. That was bleak, I know. Sorry. It's been a bad day.

I think that sometimes marriage and children can make you happy but it isn't really for everyone. For me, I wouldn't mind settling down and getting married and sharing my life with someone I love (I know I'm corny) so yes I think I would enjoy being married. But I'm positive that children aren't for me. Trust me, I've worked with children and the little brats are a handful.

I am incredibly happy and married to a great guy. We have no children, nor do we plan on it. It depends on your age and your disposition as to if it would personally suit you. You do what makes you happy, and that will change with age. So long as you are pleased with the direction your life is heading, there's no reason to doubt yourself just because of a silly stereotype that that's what women are "supposed" to want.

Marriage and children were wonderful for me. However, they are not for everyone. Follow your heart and don't let anyone talk you into anything, or it just won't work. Don't be pressured by society if you don't want marriage & children. Many women can be happy and independent and have a full life being single and childless.

Right now I'm too young to be thinking about that. I want to enjoy life on my own, and have fun with out any worries if the children are safe, if they ate dinner, if they took a shower, is the house clean, are the bills paid, is the dog walked, did they already kill each other, and so on?! lol. Someday I will have children, but i'm glad I'm worry free and i can go to clubs and bars and enjoy myself and have fun flirting with guys. :)

Only people who want those things will be happy with them. If you dont want it it will make you miserable and resentful.
There are people who don't marry or have kids and they are very happy with their choice. The child abusers, molesters, rapists, etc. are perfect examples of why some people should not procreate. Anyone with genitals can produce a child, Only someone special can be a GOOD parent.

Marriage and children will not make you happy. Happiness comes from within ourselves.
