Good Evening,
You will be okay.He will do a breast exam. As well as a pelvic exam.It is a way for your health care provider to examine your female organs and check for any gynecological problems. When you make your appointment, be sure to let the secretary know that this is your first pelvic exam.

The nurse can answer your questions and help explain what to expect so you won't be worried.

Yes he will be able to tell as well as if you have had sex please be honest with him so he can do the proper exam.
Here is a link about your first pelvic exam and what to expect. You are 18 years old now.. so if you are worried your mom and or dad will find out please ask the doctor to keep your exam confidential.

Don't worry, it's not that bad. This is how it will go. A nurse will take your family history and ask you questions about your first period, if you are sexually active, etc. They will have you get undressed and into a gown. You will lie on the table and put your feet into the stirrups. Wear socks, they can be cold! They will have you scoot your bottom all the way to the edge of the table where you feel like you're about to fall off. The doctor will insert an instrument called a speculum which looks kinda like a duckbill to open your vagina so he can get a better look. You can tell the nurse beforehand that this is your first pap smear and that you are a virgin. They will use a special virgin speculum that is much smaller. It will probably feel cold and be a little uncomfortable, but not too bad. Then the doctor will insert a little tiny brush (it actually looks alot like a mascara wand) into your vagina and into your cervix to get a few cells. This might pinch a little, but is not painful. After the pap smear, the doctor will do a pelvic exam where he inserts two fingers and will press down on your belly to get a feel of your uterus and overies. Again, uncomfortable, but not painful. The doctor will feel your breasts for lumps and that's it! The doctor can tell if the hymen is broken, but cannot tell if you are a virgin or not. Honestly, I don't think the doctor will even care if you are a virgin or not, and definitely would not tell anyone if he thought you were not.

You will have to get undressed, so be prepared for that, but they will give you one of those paper robes. You will probably get a breast exam and a Pap Smear to check for cervical cancer. This may be a bit uncomfortable, but it is not especially painful. You will have a speculum placed in you to keep you open while the gynecologist takes a sample from inside of you. You will most likely also get a pelvic exam. This may be a little more uncomfortable as the Ob-Gyn will have his or her fingers inside of you inspecting your pelvic area.
Some women feel slight discomfort to a little bit of pain. If it is hurting too much inform your gynecologist. You should also tell him or her that this is your first time there.

The gynecologist cannot tell if you are a virgin or not. Your hymen can be broken from horseback riding, using a tampon, etc.

The whole thing will probably not take very long. You'll probably feel awkward during it, but that's normal. Good luck.

OK first relax the doctor should have a you talk to him first before he does anything he may ask you if your are sexually active so he/she will know if you need to be on birth control they could care less if you are a virgin or not this is confidential and you need to be as honest as possible.

Remember this could be the doctor that delivers your children in the future but you are not tied to this doctor if you do not like he/she you can always change to someone else.

Then they will have you go to a examining room and completely undress and put on some kind of gown or wrap a throw away wrap on. You will be asked to lay back or be placed in a chair that tilts you back. The doctor will examine your bottom and take a instrument that will expand you a little to take a pap smear to check you for cancer this is a good thing a little bit uncomfortable but totally doable. They may examine your breast for lumps if they suspect you have cancer you will be sent for a mammogram unlikely but better safe then sorry.

Yours is not the first bottom they have seen nor will it be the last. They are there to help you with your health not judge you for what you do with your boyfriend. This is about you and the health of your body keep that in mind and try and not be so scared. When you are done you are going to say gosh is that all there is to it!! Good luck gurl

Relax, its a very simple exam and nothing to stress out over.

The doctor can tell that the hymen is broken, but he won't be able to tell how it happened (it can happen all kinds of ways besides sex, like using tampons, extreme sports, things like that). The only concern your gynecologist will have about whether you're a virgin or not is that you use protection (not just birth control but condoms to prevent STDs).

You'll get undressed and lay on the table, and the gynecologist will have you put your knees up so he can examine that area. When they due a Pap smear they insert a wide metal thing (looks like a pair of tongs sort of) and that can be a little uncomfortable. But no worse than shoes that are too tight, and it only lasts a few minutes.

Oh you poor thing. I used to be really nervous about going to the gyno before I went and now I am a women' heath nurse!

I bet once it is all over with you will think "hey, that wasn't so bad"

You should also be proud of yourself for taking care of your body.

As for the virginity thing. Many girls lose their hymens exercising, using tampons or anything else. You doc will believe if you tell her/him you are a virgin. Just be honest. Even if you aren't a virgin, you doc won't pass judgement. Most girls are having sex by that age and they know that. If you plan on having sex soon tell your doc that too. It is good to talk to him/her about sex and how you can prevent pregnancy and STDs.

Good luck...you will be just fine. It is a pretty quick exam only 5 minutes of the embarrassing stuff!

just because your hymen is gone doesnt mean that your not a virgin because there are a lot of girls who lose their hymes because they play sports and they just do. also he wont be looking to see your hymen. just when you go there the best advice is to be relaxed. if you are tense then you will be tense down there and it will make things go a lot slower and be more painful than it should be. plus it will hurt a little, because they are going to stick a metal thing inside of you and crank it open to open you up and to hold you open. then he is going to get a huge cotton swab and stick it inside, not all of the way and its not painful, he will just swab a little and then he will put his fingers inside of you with one hand and with the other he will push on your lower stomach to fill your insides to make sure everything is there and is in good shape. before he does all of this he will put some lube on you to make it all go in easier. its not that bad, just relax and be greatful that you only have to do it once a year.

don't worry the last thing your dr will do is judge you. he or she has seen much more crazy things than you can likely imagine. the nurses and dr. will explain everything that is happening every step of the way. they won't care morally if you are a virgin, only medically. that info will help them care for you.
