I think that Jaws has a better opening scene because it does a better job of introducing the character Jaws and giving the audience all the information it needs to know that he is dangerous and somehow mysterious at the same time. The opening scene of Indiana Jones introduces the character Indiana Jones, but it is definitely not as well crafted as the Jaws opening. Inglorious Basterds opening scene was better because the audience was definitely in suspense during the whole conversation once they learned that the Jewish family was under the floorboards. The Reservoir Dogs opening scene was just men talking about how "Like a Virgin" was about big *****. Both great movies, but IB had a better opening scene.

The rest is more generic, but the action movie "Swordfish" has a great opening with the villian (John Travolta) criticizing Hollywood action movies for never letting the villians do what is necessary (no matter how brutal) to win and defeat the hero.

Others...

"Children of Men" and "Saving Private Ryan"

Although she only appears in the opening scene of the movie, Drew Barrymore was great in that opening scene in Scream.

I love Little Miss Sunshine's opening sequence. The song "The Winner Is..." complimented the opening beautifully.

Trainspotting.....Renton and his pals running away from shop security staff....the "choose life" monologue....the brilliantly edited introduction to Renton's world...all accompanied by a thumping Iggy Pop tune...wonderful!
