It is possible that the switch has a bad contact on the low position. However, it is also possible that circuit 60 (the yellow wire) from the control head has an open in it. It's also possible that the blower resistor module's low resistor is open.

There is only one way to find out. You need to remove the blower motor resistor and check the resistance between the low resistor and the M1 resistor. (pin B and pin A on the connector.) If it reads 0 ohms or OL (over limit), you have an open resistor, and need a new module.

At the same time you should put the controller switch in low and check voltage on the yellow wire at the resistor connector. If it's 12v, you should be in good shape. To really test the circuit, you need to load test it with a light bulb. I'd use a turn signal bulb. Place one lead for the bulb socket on the yellow wire, and ground the other lead for the bulb socket. There should be enough current flowing through the circuit to light it up brightly.

I have a 2000 GP GT also, and it has the same problem. It doesn't bother me, so I haven't done the required testing. Good luck with it.

This is usually caused by a burnt out printed circuit board in the blower control module located right behind the blower motor underneath the passenger dash area. They aren't too hard to replace but they are not the easiest thing to see as they are buried behind the blower. Sometimes just easier to remove the blower so you can see what you are doing. They don't cost too much either. To check this, turn ignition on and run through all the positions on the switch and the power will change to different locations of the blower control module. Good luck.

Fan automobiles are run alot, so the motor can finally burn out. occurred to me some months in the past. I extremely have a Bronco, so it became easy to replace, however the tight extra healthful below the hood could be too lots for you. in case you will discover it and get it out, connect some wires on on your battery and take a inspect it out. If it runs like that, try shaking it or turning it distinctive techniques. it is going to probable decrease out on you, meaning the coil is melting. If it rather works no rely the form you bang it, shake it or turn it, then you definitely've a foul wiring situation or a foul change. decide for the change next. they are affordable, you may purchase one and replace it to work out if that works. probable approximately $12 for the change. I payed $27 for my fan motor. not a foul quantity to pay thinking mechanics will value you $60 just to get a seem at it. Then they are going to cost you for aspects and exertions. The fan could be placed in 2 distinctive places. In a can below the hood it is attatched to the firewall, or below your passenger element sprint board. If that's the latter, you have have been given your artwork decrease out for you, so commence early on a time without work and don't take breaks. stable success! Oh, one extra element: discover the + carry approximately the fan and verify the resistance to floor. in case you get any resistance different than 0 ohms or NO LOAD, there is something blocking off the fan from turning...a fowl???

I see this problem alot, eventually the other speeds will stop working except the highest speed under the passenger portion of the dash is your blower and behind or next to it is a resistor they cause this problem the best way to know is wait (as long as this isn't really bothering you) until the next speed goes out. Then you know for sure thats the problem without guessing and throwing parts at it.

The fan switch has partially failed. GM is notorious for cheaping out on parts like that. Personally, I'd wait on fixing it until it gets worse.
