I'm not sure exactly, but I think sometimes we just grow past some of our friends or they grow past us. It just happens and the next thing you know you realize you haven't talk to this person, or that person, in almost a year. Weird how that works. I know that I've let some friends become strangers even though I really liked them because I found they were sucking the life out of me. I had this friend I really liked but I got pretty sick of everyone of my problems reminding her of a difficult time her life so she's start crying and would want me to listen to her. It sucked. lb

Sometimes our closest friends can become like strangers to us even if we see them regularly and make an effort to maintain contact. People can lose what connected them to another person over a course of time - it can happen both consciously and unconsciously. With this in mind it makes sense why they say we lose more friends in a lifetime than we make.

Because a friendship wasn't strong enough to begin with or they don't make the time to keep a friendship. True friends can pick up where they left off, even if they haven't see each other for months.

Some of us have a hard time allowing someone to get to close to us so we start to push them away. Other times those friends just weren't close enough to us to keep in touch with them.

It's sad isn't it? I think it's because life just happens. We drift apart from people as we encounter new situations, people, and environments in our lives.
