Try a system restore to the date when it was working normally. If it does not work, you may have to reload the driver.

The recording settings might have been changed, so try checking out them by going to Start>Run, type "mmsys.cpl" without the quotes and wait for the "Sound devices properties" window. Once there, look for the "Audio" tab and pick it with a clic.

Out there, you'll see a Sound Recording section in which you select the sound device. Pick the "Volume" button, and wait for the "Recording control" window, which will show you different sound recording inputs and you may enable the one you need as source by selecting its checkbox right down the lever, which could be a microphone, CD player, etc.

Pay attention that you may enable more or other recording sources by going thru Options>Properties in the current "Recording control" window; once the Properties window appears, select all the recording inputs you may need from the checklist and clicking OK you'll be able to see them whenever you need to change the recording settings. Good luck.
