Why do we close our eyes when we sleep? when we cry? when we imagine? when we kiss?

When you fall asleep, you whole body relaxes, including your eyes and they will shut normally. I've seen people cry with their eyes open before...unless they are really bawling. When you imagine you have to close your eyes to block out the rest of the world so you can focus on your dreams. When you kiss, if you close your eyes you can focus on the feelings that kiss will give you. Good question...have a star!

We sleep with our eyes closed because:
"Usually, when we sleep, our eyes are closed. In my view there are 2 primary reasons for this. First, distracting sensory stimuli (lights, noises, etc.) can interfere with sleep, and closing your eyes greatly reduces visual input. Second, closing your eyelids protects your eyes from foreign objects and from drying out during sleep."
I personally do not close my eyes when I cry nor when I imagine. I think we close our eyes when we kiss, if we do at all, because we really like the person and are enjoying the moment a lot.

when we imagine sometimes are eyes are opened sometimes
when we kiss ot is more romantic

Because all of these things are very personal to us and we want them to stay that way closeing the eyes is one way to do this

sleep - our eyes would dry out
cry - who wants to see the world at a time like that
imagine - it gives our brain total concentration
kiss - takes the distraction away so we can concentrate on the sensation of kissing.
