does it bother anyone that he was never even the best player on his own team?

OK, let's look at Biggio's AVERAGE numbers. I'll combine his rookie year of 1988 and the first half of this year into one year, making it an average for 19 years. Does this line inspire HOF chants?

.282 Average, 157 Hits, 95 Runs, 34 Doubles, 3 Triples, 15 HR, 60 RBIs, 60 Walks, 89 Ks, 21 SBs, .365 OBP, .435 SLG

And four gold gloves? That doesn't speak to GREATNESS, like Ozzie Smith's 13 or even Ryne Sandberg's 9 CONSECUTIVE.

By AVERAGE stats, he compares with the likes of Barry Larkin, Steve Findley, and Ray Durham, and I don't think there is any arguement that they are NOT Hall of Famers. So, if the only difference between Larkin, Findley, Durham, and Biggio is the number of years they played, is longevity THE benchmark stat for the HOF?

Face it, Craig Biggio is a GOOD player who's main acomplishment is his longevity. He is not a hall of famer.

Gotta say, the man's an ex-catcher, a second baseman, and a prolific run producer. I know a lot of people don't think that the position a player plays doesn't make a difference, but catcher is the most debilitating and 2nd base and shortstop are the most finesse positions, and Biggio played at 2 of the 3.

Even though the writers still have to be appeased -- Biggio will need to mind his p's and q's with them until he actually is voted in -- there is almost nothing to keep him out.

Looks like you're having trouble finding people who agree with that statement. If someone doesn't think Craig Biggio is a Hall of Famer then I suggest they do a little baseball research because, clearly, they need to become more informed on the subject.

Edited: Lou Gehrig was never the best player on his own team. Neither was Willie McCovey, Eddie Murray, Joe Morgan, Don Sutton, Lou Brock... You get the point.

2992-hits, 27th
657-doubles, 6th
4617-total bases, 30th
1816-runs, 15th
412-stolen bases, 61st
998-extra base hits, 27th
4426-times on base, 21st
283-hit by pitch, 2nd
4 gold gloves
5 silver sluggers
7 time all star

He certainly is a Hall of Famer. Those numbers are topps among numerous players already in the hall. You must be related to the guy that said Kris Benson could get in because he can win 16 games a year for the next decade yeah right.

Um, 3000+ hits didn't get Rose in, and it probably won't help Palmeiro. But they both have extenuating circumstances.

Sorry, but I cannot see any performance-related reasons to deny Biggio the bronze plaque.

yea i think he should be a hall of famer becuse of other reason besides 3000 hits like his base on ball he has over 1000, and alot of runs scored and also 412 stolen bases, and has shown a litlle power, and hes also a great fielder, but one thing that i dont like about him is his amount of K's but he still has shown that hes hall of fame material.

What kind of question is that? Anyone who gets 3,000 hits in there career is an automatic lock in the Hall of Fame.
