final fantasy IV dark elf?

how much HP and how long do I have to do to defeat him. I know the first is about 23,00 but donesn't the scene cut to Edward?

his hp is 23890 the first time you fight him. since your best weapons are arrows, you won't do much damage, but the holy arrows do ok. he is resistant to most elements, so i usually hit him with anything at all with tellah, and i leave yang with no weapons on, so that he doesn't get elemental resistance.

HOWEVER

if you didn't talk to edward at the castle where the water crystal is supposed to be, there will not be a cutscene with edward's double harp

anyway, provided that you talked to edward before, after 5-8 rounds with the dark elf will eventually do a combo of fira, thundara, and blizzara. then, he'll do tornado, which gets everyone down to 5-1 HP. Yang will say that they cannot win, and the battle ends.. at this point, AFTER you have all died, edward will wake up and crawl to the harp. he'll slam that stupid nurse against the wall that tries to stop him, and then he'll play.

the dark elf will get all freaky, like he's got serious mental issues, and the magnetic field will be lifted. at this point, you can equip cecil and kain with their regular stuff, and if you got metal stuff for cid, then him as well

at that point, after initiating the fight, the dark elf will turn into the dark dragon, which looks more like an overgrown snake to me. this dragon has 3927 hp, and has the same weaknesses (almost nothing -- only holy) as the dark elf, except this time, bio will do normal damage

The dark elf will basically annihilate your party first you just have to hold out till the cut scene with Edward, and after that you can finally damage/defeat him.
as for the health i forgot how much he has.. its been awhile i am past that now.

you have to use cura to kill him
